How to correct food portions and macro totals

The serving is where most food-log errors come from.

Set the amount before you add

When you open a food, choose servings, grams or ounces and type the amount you ate. Calories, protein, carbs and fat recalculate as you type. Example from a real test: 40 g of an oatmeal listed per 100 g showed 143 kcal, 5.7 g protein, 25.7 g carbs and 2.8 g fat, which is exactly 40% of the label.

Fix an entry that is wrong

A logged amount cannot be edited yet. Remove the entry (the ✕ next to it) and add the food again with the right amount. The meal and day totals update straight away.

Check the numbers

  • Branded foods come from Open Food Facts (community data) and USDA FoodData Central, so a product can be wrong. Compare with your package.
  • Entries whose numbers fail the app’s checks are marked “unverified numbers”.
  • Per-meal totals are rounded on their own, so they can differ from the day total by 1 kcal.

About photo logging

Meal n Rep does not log food from photos. If that is added later, its results will be labelled as estimates you can correct.

This guide explains how to use Meal n Rep. It is general information, not medical or dietary advice, and it has not been reviewed by a doctor, dietitian or certified coach. If you have a health condition, ask a professional.
