Kosher food support: helpful, honest, never guessed

A kosher-only filter, certifier names with their source, and meat/dairy tags.

Meal n Rep helps you find and log food that fits a kosher kitchen. It is careful about one thing above all: it only shows what the product data actually says, and it tells you where that came from. The app never verifies that a product is kosher and never guesses from a brand name, product name or ingredients. Always check the symbol on your package.

What each part means

TermWhat it means in Meal n Rep
Your kosher preferenceA setting: only foods with a hechsher, kosher first, or no preference. It decides what the food search shows first or hides.
Kosher-only filterHides branded products that have no hechsher named in their data. General foods (our list of common foods, and your own foods) stay visible.
Certifier shownThe hechsher name (for example OU or OK) as tagged by the community in Open Food Facts, and only if it is on the app’s list of known kosher certifiers. Shown as “named in community data, not verified by this app”.
Certification unknownGeneral foods like “chicken breast” have no package and no certifier; the app says certification is unknown.
Hechshers I acceptNarrow the filter to the certifiers you rely on. By default any named certifier counts.
Meat / dairy / pareve tagsShown when the data has them, so you can plan meals.
Meat-to-dairy timerA reminder timer set to your minhag (1 to 6 hours). It is a reminder only.
Verified kosherNot offered. The app does not certify or verify anything.
Oatmeal product with Kosher tag and the line Certifier named in community data: OU, not verified by this app, check the symbol on your package

Why we do it this way

Community product data is useful but can be out of date or wrong, and kosher status can change. Showing the source, and never inventing certification, is the honest way to help. If you see a wrong label, report it from the food screen.

Meal n Rep has no rabbinic approval or supervision, and nothing in the app is a halachic ruling. For questions of kashrus, ask your rav.
