Meal n Rep compared with other fitness apps

One app or three?

Most people who lift and watch their food use two or three apps: a workout logger, a calorie counter and sometimes a sleep or watch app. That works well if you want the deepest version of each. Meal n Rep puts the basics of all three on one Today screen, so your training, food and last night’s sleep sit side by side.

One app (Meal n Rep) suits you if

  • You want one place and one login for workouts, food and sleep
  • You are starting out and want a plan that tells you what to do
  • You keep kosher or Shabbos and want an app that respects it
  • You do not want to pay

Separate apps suit you better if

  • You want a native app, a watch app or Apple Health / Health Connect sync
  • You want the largest food database, restaurant meals or AI photo logging
  • You want a big social community or detailed analytics
  • You track micronutrients closely

How to read this: “Yes” and “No” for other apps are what their own pages say. “Not found” means we looked on their pages and did not find it; it may still exist. Prices are US prices on their own pages, checked October 25, 2026; app-store prices can differ by offer and region. Tell us if anything here is out of date: mealnrep@mail.tab.bot.

Where each app is stronger

Hevy

Native iPhone and Android apps, Apple Watch and Wear OS, a large social community, detailed workout stats and a very low Pro price. It has no food or sleep logging that we could find.

Their page · checked October 25, 2026

Strong

A polished, simple logger with a stand-alone Apple Watch app, charts and CSV export. It does not log food (it can show calories imported from other apps), and we found no plan generation.

Their page · checked October 25, 2026

MyFitnessPal

A much bigger food database (20.5M foods by its own count), restaurant items, many device integrations and AI features. Its barcode scanner, data export and workout routines are paid.

Their page · checked October 25, 2026

Cronometer

Curated, lab-analysed nutrient data (84 to 95 nutrients), a free barcode scanner and free export, and sleep from manual entry or many devices. We found no set/rep strength logging or workout plans.

Their page · checked October 25, 2026

MacroFactor

Adaptive calorie coaching from your weight trend, AI photo logging and a separate Workouts app with automatic progression. There is no free plan, and we found no web app or sleep tracking.

Their page · checked October 25, 2026

Fitbod

Strong automatic workout generation with 1,000+ exercise videos and watch support. It has no food or sleep logging, and we found no ongoing free plan.

Their page · checked October 25, 2026

Lose It!

A large food database, apps plus web plus Apple Watch, photo logging and device sync. Its barcode scanner, photo logging and sleep goal are paid, and we found no set/rep strength logging.

Their page · checked October 25, 2026

What none of them showed: We couldn’t find another workout and food tracker with a built-in Shabbos and Yom Tov mode or a hechsher filter (searched October 25, 2026). A search can miss things, so if you know of one, tell us.

Where Meal n Rep is weaker

  • No iPhone or Android app in the stores, no watch app, and no Apple Health or Health Connect sync
  • A smaller food database: our own list of common foods plus Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central
  • No AI photo logging and no AI coach
  • No exercise videos (written steps and simple animated figures instead)
  • A new product with no community or reviews yet

Free. Works in your browser on iPhone, Android, tablet and computer. No card needed.
