How to record weights and reps for progression

Good records are what make the next suggestion useful.

What to record

For every working set, record the weight and the reps you actually did, not the reps you planned. If a set was cut short, log the real number. Meal n Rep uses these numbers for “last time”, your records and the next suggestion.

How the suggestion works

Each exercise has a rep range. If you reached the top of the range on every working set last time, the next session suggests adding a small amount (5 lb or 2.5 kg on most equipment). Otherwise it suggests the same weight and asks you to beat last time’s reps. It is a rule, not a coach watching you, so if a suggestion feels wrong, use the weight that is right for you and log it. How suggestions are calculated.

Steps

  1. Start the workout from Today or Train.
  2. Check “last time” under each exercise before your first set.
  3. Log each set with its weight and reps. The rest timer starts after a set; you can undo the last set.
  4. Finish the workout so it is saved to your history. Your best lifts and estimated 1-rep max (the Epley formula) update on Progress.

Fixing a mistake

You can undo the last set during a workout. After a workout is finished it can be deleted, but not edited yet, so check the numbers before you finish.
